While getting ready for his High School graduation ceremony, my oldest son asked "Dad, do you have a pair of nice shoes I can wear?" 

 My reply: "You bet. Pick out anything in my closet that you want to wear. I will show you the ones that are the most comfortable if you want."

The graduation ceremony was fantastic. It was full of emotion and excitement. While mingling afterwards I said to him "I see you grabbed the shiniest pair of shoes that I own. How did they work out for you?"

His reply: "These are terrible. My feet hurt like crazy."

Me: "I know, that's why I never wear them."
